Wandering Llamas Fox Den Treehouse

Turning 40 is a milestone worth celebrating, and my sister had the most unique birthday gift in mind. She surprised me with a stay at the Wandering Llamas Fox Den Treehouse, nestled in the picturesque Greenville, Tennessee. Little did I know that this adventure would take me to a llama farm, where Sandy, our gracious host, introduced us to a world of rustic charm and adorable llamas.

The Llama Farm Hideaway

Upon arriving at the llama farm, we were welcomed by Sandy, a warm-hearted host who shared our love for these majestic creatures. The treehouse was everything I had dreamed of and more. Perched high among the trees, it offered stunning views of the farm and its inhabitants. There were chairs and a small table on the deck of the treehouse where you could sit and watch all the happenings of the farm. It had a comfy queen size bed, chair, and coffee/tea area. Since the treehouse was called the 'Fox Den' it was adorned with foxes, everywhere.

Llama Encounters

One of the unique aspects of our stay was the opportunity to get up close and personal with the llamas. Sandy gave us free rein to enter their enclosures and interact with these curious and gentle creatures. Feeding and petting them (if we could catch them) was an absolute delight. There were even two newborn llamas in the mix, their fuzzy heads and wobbly legs stealing our hearts. Our favorite part was feeding the llamas graham crackers. It was a windy day so one of the graham crackers flew in the air and got stuck on a llamas back. My significant other decided to run after the llama to try to knock the cracker off; however, in the end we had to confess to Sandy that one of her llamas has a cracker hitchhiker.

Bath House

The treehouse itself was a cozy haven with electricity but no running water. The bath area was underneath the treehouse. The bathroom consisted of a bucket with a toilet seat and a plastic bag – a true "back to nature" experience! For washing up, we used a basin and bottled water to brush our teeth and freshen up. That really was the only downfall of staying at the treehouse.

Stained Glass Serenity

Sandy, a stained glass artist, had lent her artistic touch to the treehouse. Most of the windows were adorned with beautiful stained glass, casting colorful patterns of light throughout the space. I never knew how much being surrounded by beautiful colors would brighten my day.

Campfire Magic

We embraced the outdoors with open arms. Grilling our meals, making s'mores over a campfire, and enjoying the simple pleasures of nature were some of the highlights. My significant other was new to "glamping" and was thrilled with the foil packet meal from the grill. Even the local cat made its way up to the treehouse for a friendly visit.

The Llama Serenade

One unforgettable memory from our stay was the unexpected nighttime serenade. Mysterious sounds outside the treehouse turned out to be two llamas engaging in, well, a passionate rendezvous. Nature truly has its way of surprising us!

Llama Hiking Adventure

The following day, we had the option to embark on a guided llama hiking adventure. It was a unique and serene experience, exploring the stunning landscape with these friendly, furry companions. We each had our own llamas to walk during the hike. We stopped for pictures, to let the llamas use the bathroom as well as feed the llamas. The hike was fun but even more so with a llama friend by our sides.

A Llama Lover's Paradise

Our getaway to the Wandering Llamas Treehouse was a dream come true for llama enthusiasts like us. The rustic charm, llamas galore, and the tranquility of nature combined to create an unforgettable birthday celebration. It was a unique adventure that will forever hold a special place in our hearts, reminding us that sometimes the most memorable gifts come wrapped in llama love.
